After a cheeky break in Autumn, we’re back at Chesterfield Labour Club to launch ‘The Independent Electric Group’. And what a fantastic line up we have to kick things off.
With a rich history in the Manchester post-punk scene in bands such as Ludus, The Distractions and The Fall and having won the award for Best Small Group in 2016 at Buxton Fringe and nominated for a new show in 2017 with his band Egriega, frontman Pieter Egriega returns to Chesterfield Labour Club with a fantastic new solo set.
Matt Black lives in Leamington Spa. Since being Derbyshire Poet Laureate (2011-2013) he has successfully completed over 25 commissions, with poems on 15 benches, 20 milestones, a large glass panel, and in exhibitions and publications. He has read at festivals in the UK, Europe and America, his next collection is Tales from the Leaking Boot (Iron Press, 2018), and his first play The Storm Officer will tour in 2018. Having produced a pamphlet dedicated to Chesterfield Labour Club during his time as Derbyshire Laureate, he’s back to celebrate the publication in July 2017 of a new pamphlet The Spoon Rebellion. Busy Man.

Resident genius Ichabod will be back, bringing his usual winning combination of wry audience sparring and beautiful music and there will also be a short set by Poke o’Swedgers performimg amongst others a remarkable version of Tony Walsh’s poem Sugar Spun Tornadoes.
The night will be hosted by resident performance poet Matt McAteer and stitched together with a DJ soundtrack from Derbyshire based electronica musician and producer Lippy Kid.
It promises to be a great evening.
