This month at IEG Presents, we have not one, but two fantastic album launches, a fantastic guest poet and a resident genius
Hot on the heels of his fantastic debut LP, My Pleasure is back with a further instalment of sharp, barbed post-punk laced with great lyrics and pop hooks on his new LP Mostly Happy.
“A terrific piece of observational pop music” Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music
“Mark E Smith meets LCD Soundsystem. Seriously good.” Alan Raw, BBC Intoiducing Humberside
“Great energy. Sharp lyrics” Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music
Del Scott Miller is also back with new LP The Pen, The Sword and The Song. It’s filled with ridiculously fine guitar finger picking, incisive lyrics and a mighty poem to round things off and Del is always top drawer live.
Great poetry this month from the wonderful Jo Howard. Jo is a poet, singer and storyteller based in Manchester, where she runs popular spoken word night, Verbose with her friend Zena Barrie. By day, Jo works as a producer at Viva la Zoom, a video company she runs with her husband. For many years she has performed as an Edith Piaf impersonator, playing at the Edinburgh Festival and featuring on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. Jo’s work is inspired by her life experiences, growing up in Lancashire and living now in Manchester. Expect laughter, tears and a lot of heart!
Resident genius Ichabod will be gearing up for the long anticipated release of his own debut album and there will be the usual poetry, nonsense and flawed time-keeping from MC Matt McAteer
All this plus ridiculously cheap bar for just £5 entry on the door
