January 27th: Blind Saints, Al McClimens, May Days In Barcelona, Ichabod & Matt McAteer

A great end to 2017 last month courtesy of My Pleasure, Phil Pearce, John Marriott and Ichabod is followed by Independent Electric Group roaring into 2018 with another fantastic, eclectic line-up of fine music and prime poetry:

Blind Saints are a heavy blues trio from Sheffield England.
They feature former MudCats Blues Trio (Tesla records) and Hey Sholay (Fierce Panda) members; plus a genetic clone of Keith Moon hitting drum skins. Coming from differing musical disciplines – something occurs to the blues when all members are in the same room and plugged in

Al McClimens is a poet who landed in Sheffield via Bellshill and Edinburgh. Having scooped top spot at various poetry slams, his debut pamphlet, the superb Keats on the Moon – 20 sonnets has recently been published by Mews Press, demonstrating literary class to go with the performance chops

May Days in Barcelona is primarily the work of multi-instrumentalist Simon James Clowes, who is also one half of Offred and a frequent collaborator with recent IEG performer Sam Nash (Postictal and the Photophobes). Live sets are based around looped guitar, violin and synth.

Resident genius Ichabod will be dusting 2017 off with his customary dry wit and aplomb to deliver another spellbinding set

Matt McAteer’s the host. £5 entry, cheap bar, great line-up. See you there
