Continuing our fantastic run of events in 2018, we have one of our own, an IEG founding member Lippy Kid, with the live premiere of his critically-acclaimed album Thought Forms.

The album is a collaboration between Lippy Kid and Leeds-based abstract artist Greg Farndon, with the music being inspired by a series of ‘Remix’ photographs produced by Greg. Photographs of every day objects, but distorted to create something far more abstract and arguably more beautiful. The essence being that the more time spent in the company of something, the more you’re able to appreciate something beyond the sum of its parts.

“Thought Form I (Scintilla)…It’s a beauty…” Mary Anne Hobbs – BBC6 Music Recommends

“It weaves a path of diverse electronica – from clubby rhythms, ambient sci-fi textures and more industrial beats…it’s an effortlessly synchronised journey…” Electronic Sound Magazine

Also appearing – ace Derby poet Sophie Sparham. Sophie’s poetry mainly focuses on political and social subjects and she has performed all around the UK, including festivals such as Y Not, Shambala and the Opera House Stage at Rebellion, the UK’s biggest punk festival. Her work has appeared in the People’s History Museum in Manchester, as part of the exhibition ‘Loitering with Intent’ and she was also featured as one of the UK Young Artists with her collection ‘Dead Air: If they won’t place us in the history books, we’ll write our own stories’. This allowed her to perform poetry in unusual places from market halls to libraries, educating people about forgotten revolutionary figures from history.

Long time friend of IEG Kworyl will be returning to Chesterfield Labour Club with his blistering mix of spoken word, loops and maybe some more surprises.

Resident genius Ichabod will also be back, building yet further on his burgeoning reputation as the best goddam singer and songwriter in town.

Once again, the night will be stitched together by the fantastic Matt McAteer, your host and MC for the evening.

All this plus a fantastically staffed and stocked cheap bar and for £5 entry. See you there
